Trailblazers 2012

Trailblazers was a series of 10 activity days for children between 8-12 years old which ran over the summer holidays and 39 different children took part. This time though only children who live in  one of Swansea's eight rural wards were eligible to participate.
The aim of Trailblazers is to have fun whilst becoming more aware of environmental and sustainability issues. They visited sites such as Down to Earth Project, Bishops Wood, St. Madoc Centre, Gower Heritage Centre and two local community centres and activities included beach art, pond dipping, creative woodland activities, tree climbing, recycling activities to name but a few.
They also learnt key life skills like team work and helping each other, made new friends and increased their confidence in various ways. Most of all they learnt about the area's rich natural heritage and how to work with it and conserve it.
