TOPIC House
An exemplar community resource for older people.

T.O.P.I.C. House (The Older People's Information Centre) provides older people and carers with easy access to information, advice and support. It brings people together, encourages active citizenship and promotes well-being.

The project is managed by a volunteer committee of service users supported by council staff. The Centre offers various well-attended social activities such as coffee mornings, a luncheon club, arts and crafts sessions, movement to music classes and IT training. The well-managed garden provides produce for the luncheon club and cooking demonstration workshops.

Sustainability Themes:

Community Action
Education and Training
Healthy Lifestyle
Local Produce

School and community groups are welcome to visit, by arrangement, but the size and nature of the facility is only suited to small numbers. Most areas of interest are located on the ground floor. A disabled toilet is available and there is wheel chair access. There is limited on-street parking.

There are volunteer opportunities with this Trail project.
