Singleton Botanical Gardens
A champion for horticulture, biodiversity and sustainable practices. The Botanical Gardens are run by the Parks Service of the City and County of Swansea and contain fine specimens of rare and exotic plants from around the world in both indoor and outdoor displays. Ty'r Blodau is a purpose built education and visitor centre sited within the gardens and, along with the Brynmill Discovery Centre in the nearby Brynmill Park, provides the base for a programme of educational activities related to horticulture and wildlife. Waste wood from felling and pruning in local parks and green spaces is chipped and used in a biomass boiler that provides heat for the hot houses. Green waste is also composted for use in the gardens and potting services. |
