Until spring 2015 we had been focussing our work in the Penderry ward and carrying out a number of events and activities aimed at raising awareness of different aspects of environmental sustainability.  We worked as much as possible with the existing agencies and organisations in the area in order to work effectively.

Producing a community Green Map has been one outcome and the end of the project and so it formed a large part of our engagement work.  We have run free digital photography sessions (in Penlan library) as a means of contributing to the map where participants get a chance to go out and about and practice taking photos of the area.  We combined this with talking to groups and residents about the area so that we use local knowledge in producing the map - like we did at the Macmillan coffee morning in Penlan library and with the parents of the toddler group in St Teilo's Chuch.

We held an event all about energy saving in early November in Penlan Community Centre.
Lots of local residents came to find out about energy efficiency and how to keep warm this winter. There were lots of giveaways and a lucky resident, Julie Williams won an energy monitor!

We’ve done some activities around food – the advantages of local food, grow your own and how to avoid food waste. We've already visited the playgroups at Spark centre and St Teilo's Church (run by Penplas Family Centre) to raise awareness of real nappies and there was a lot of interest! We participated in the national play day in August last year and we've been attending lots of different meetings for groups and organisations in the area.

Keep an eye out for information about what we're getting up to next, or if you have any queries or ideas for activities please get in touch with us!
