Groundwork Positive Energy Programme

The Groundwork Trust is a leading environmental regeneration charity which works in partnership with local communities and other organisations through a variety of schemes. Groundwork Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot has been delivering their Positive Energy Programme in the Swansea area – providing energy efficiency advice and practical guidance and support to help local householders and organisations.
The ongoing project has already delivered over 70 events including science activities in libraries, museums and schools which have often featured their popular bicycle generator. Groundwork has had energy saving advice stands in local supermarkets and helped people and organisations switch their energy supplier or tariffs using online software.
The project has also provided INSET training on energy saving to Swansea teachers, erected a turbine and PV panel at Llandrhidian Primary School, and helped 200 scouts across the county to gain their global conservation activity badge.
The judges were impressed with the approach taken by Groundwork to engage people - and the team’s enthusiasm, knowledge and command of the issues.
